Black Power Ranger Walter Jones -- The Show Wasn't ALWAYS Racist | TMZ
Actually as the actor said for mmpr (mighty morphing power rangers) all the actors who went for the role of Zack were black, no racism intended just the description of his fighting style and personality seemed to fit a black guy, the suit colour also wasn't a racist thing it's more of an irony thing, Zack the black ranger was played by a black guy, 25 years later its like "oops that was completely racist" nah man it's ironic not racist
People will always look for reasons to be offended. If it had been a white guy doing hip hop martial arts, it would have been cultural appropriation. If Zack had been "less black", he would have been a white-washed Uncle Tom. If he had been too black, he would have been a stereotype. This is what you get when you choose to hold onto a victim mindset. Everything offends you.
I feel like if he had had and this goes for the rest of them if they had better management or promotion they all could be major stars I mean there’s huge to all of us who grew up on power ranger but I feel like they could be like Oscar nominated actors
Despite the idea that each charachter was colored to steriotypes, i feel every ranger made it thier own and brought so much power to each charachter as a person rather than a race. While I have to say green and white were my favorite in terms of power and costume and zord, every charachter had a euniq charachter to them that made them who they are today. Go go power rangers!
Idk if anyone has meantioned this. But I find it funny how he's pointing race fingers and in the same beat refer to an Asian woman as yellow. That's in my opinion as offensive as someone walking up to me calling me a African American man colored. Idk it's odd...idk how an asian individual reacts. Maybe the same way we would if we're referred to as black.
He's one of the coolest actors I've ever met in person. At a local Comic Con he was looking at the bar area and (semi) yelled "I KINDA wanna order something...but I ALWAYS get carded!!!" Signed my poster and POP Funko. Love this dude, he and Jason David Frank are my 2 favorite Power Rangers.
You guys kill me ...ugh...Power rangers weren't always racist...originally the show was going to be called Fruit Rangers, I believe in 1999 when it was originally created....and the black fruit ranger wore RED, not black....with a watermelon on the back of his costume.
