This is the best trailer.

I LOVE this commercial!!! Every time I see it on Starz I lose my shit, this is such an amazing show and I adore the song that's featured in this ad! I'd never heard of the books before (I heard about the show from Graham McTavish's twitter and subsequently learned of the books) and I knew from the first episode that I just HAD to read the books! I picked up the first one today and I'm so stoked to get started! (Gotta finish my current books first tho)

I've listened to all the books on Audible. The actress who does all the voices is phenomenal and she interprets all the humor and pathos to a "T". I'm so used to Jamie's Scottish voice and Claire's, I don't think I could get used to the actors on the series. Really, the Audible versions are spectacular!

I'd love to listen on Audible !~ Can you give me some more info, please ?

Time Travel? holy shtick I'm in!

Why did they darken her hair for the role when Claire in the book has very light brown hair?  Every heroine lately has the darkest brown hair, I think it's some kind of conspiracy against the lighter haired ladies.
Does anyone know the title of the song? It is beautiful!

Beyond excited. I've been a fan of Diana's and this series of books for years.
Maaike (4 years ago)
People should stop whining and get their facts together. I'm reading the books and they're awesome and the story has nothing to do with bad moral or something as such. Start reading the series before you're judging. I'm looking forward to the show and I like the trailer.
Jenny Cococure (4 years ago)
Currently reading Written in My Own Heart's Blood and loving it. Of course, I've read all the other books in the series, sans the novellas. This is, by far, the best romantic fiction series out there. Can't wait for the television show. Something tells me they will do it justice. Kind of like Game of Thrones.
Angie Lara (4 years ago)
I can't express how excited I am for this series:)))))) I first read the books when I was sixteen and I can't believe I'm finally getting a series. Happy days!!!! And the actor that plays Jamie is exactly how I imagined him, even his voice - so perfect. And the actress is so beautiful, and I think she looks like how Claire is supposed to. So happy:)
Shamsi Modarai (4 years ago)
I love the book, but I am a bit underwhelmed by this trailer. I want to like the casting, as the two leads seem like really sweet people and extremely passionate about their roles, but something is lacking for me..... maybe they just aren't how I imagine them, I don't know. I know I shouldn't judge based on a mere trailer, and of course, I will go into the show with as open a mind as possible. I guess I was just hoping this trailer would make me more excited but all it did was make me even more uncertain and nervous. Maybe it's just me! :/
Mary Smith (4 years ago)
I feel the same way. I like Claire's character but I don't like the actors who play Frank and Jamie.
Shamsi Modarai (4 years ago)
Yes, i'll try to have an open mind of course. Just going on my first impressions, but I hope it will improve. :)
IactuallyShitRainbow (4 years ago)
I've had those issues but you really shouldn't judge the show by how much the cast resembles the characters physically. It's more important how they portray them (which naturally is nearly as much the subject to everyone's unique mental picture as the physical appearance) and how events are carried out. Personally I like most of their choices, and it's looking, besides very appealing in a visual level (scenery, photography, light, etc), a well-acted and faithful adaptation. I guess we'll see in August.
Claudia Torres (4 years ago)
I haven't read the books because Im not a good reader, but I know more or less what the premise of the show is, and I loveeeeeeeee it.  Period, Romance, Action & lots of men in kilts ;) what is not to love about this?  These books seem to have a lot of a following so if they make the series right they will have to add all of the non-reader fans out there waiting for this series to come out.  Cant wait August 10th is already here......

I just finished reading Outlander for the first time. So, I google it and find out a show is premiering in a couple months? Um. Yes. Just yes. I jumped on the bandwagon at exactly the right time.
Samantha Abeyta (4 years ago)
I AM SO EXCITED!!
Lynn Coolen (4 years ago)
Clearly all the nay-sayers have NOT read any of the books otherwise they'd know how inaccurate their comments are. Seriously people, if you're going to leave a comment in a public domain at least know WTF you're talking about! The entire series is amazing! I've just finished book 8 and true to the series it was amazing.... I just hope the TV show does as good a job so we can see these books get the screen time they deserve.
salamander337 (4 years ago)
hmmm...so she's married, but stuck in the past and forced to be with another man. I don't know if this show is promoting adultery or lust?
sunmaidliz (4 years ago)
and you obviously don't know irony and sarcasm.
EmzieQC (4 years ago)
+sunmaidliz hahahahahahahahaaaaa yeah. cuz we're back in the fifties. *eyeroll* Its a great series of books numnuts. But then, you probably don't know how to read.
sunmaidliz (4 years ago)
It promotes both and anyone who watches it should go to hell. Immoral bastarda.
Tara P (4 years ago)
That's actually a huge plot-point for Claire in the novel, and one she has to deal with. She's thrust into the past, has NO idea if she can ever return. The actual marriage to Jamie has nothing to do with lust and everything to do with survival and the protection his name and clan could provide. I suggest you read Outlander - for all it's sizable - and I think you'll appreciate how Mrs. Gabaldon handles the issue.
PeteVVest (4 years ago)
I want to like this show but it looks so boring. I'm tired of all the period pieces lately..
Jessica Corriveau (3 years ago)
Yup, even in the book the first half of it is REALLY boring, I am glad I pushed on and read.
J M (3 years ago)
I saw the first 8 episodes, only time I was bored was for the first half of the first episode.
Buffy8Fan (4 years ago)
+Karstin Mølby If that's all you think it is you watched Reign way too often. I gave up on that after five episodes. Outlander is based on an international #1 besteller that has been that way for 23 years.
Jessica Corriveau (4 years ago)
read the books , they are actually very good and diverse and include a lot of history in them. not sure if it's fictional history, but still it's way more interesting than you would think. The books are like 700 pages per each series. They were great. I also have Scottish ancestry so it was really interesting to me.
Ro-Mitch (4 years ago)
Hey networks (especially starz)  figure the best way to compete with HBOs Game Of Thrones is to do these types of shows. Look at Camelot, The White Queen, Davincis Demons, and Black Sails. I actually enjoyed Back Sails but Im bias when it comes to pirates lol It'll continue so long as people show interest aka like Game Of Thrones (like most of us)
Tallulah Robinson (4 years ago)
yay, rape.
IactuallyShitRainbow (4 years ago)
+Ariel Evangeline He did hit her at one point (or rather gave her a serious ass-whopping with a belt) and that's one of said moments of moral ambiguity I mentioned, but you have to take into account it was the 18th century and he was raised with physical punishment (by his good, loving father, no sarcasm here) so it was a pretty normal course of action in those circumstances—she'd put the whole group in danger out of stubbornness. That's the only time he hurts her, and he swears not to lay a hand on her again. There is also one instance when they're seriously butting heads over something and you think he'll force her, but it's really just heat. Long story short, you needn't worry, he never rapes her; even if they do fight a lot, and very heatedly, they have quite a good love story. Not a very pretty, neat, uncomplicated one, but really good.
IactuallyShitRainbow (4 years ago)
+Ariel Evangeline Randall does rape Jamie. It's pretty traumatic. But Jamie does not, at any point, rape Claire. In fact, the guy's so moral he goes a virgin to their marriage bed. There ARE a couple situations of moral ambiguity (mostly stemming from the fact we're talking a set of morals a couple of centuries behind us) but he never rapes her. Either your friend misinterpreted something or there was a miscommunication between you. Sincerely, Miss Rainbow (hey, that sounds nice)
IactuallyShitRainbow (4 years ago)
+Ariel Evangeline Well, either you're being really sarcastic or... nope, I'll just go with sarcastic, because I don't know what you'd have been reading otherwise. Not outlander, that's for sure. Have a nice day, Miss Sarcasm :)
IactuallyShitRainbow (4 years ago)
Yay, maturity, some day. Not today. Go back to Young Adult and let the grown-ups play.

Kay MacInnis (4 years ago)
My favourite thing about this story was that it covered so many genres, it wasn't just some romance. A true work of historical fiction genius that I can't wait to see on the screen. I truly hope that this is able to be at least half as good as Diana Gabaldon's works, because even that would be an accomplishment!
Kairra O'Mahony (4 years ago)
I tried reading this book and couldn't even get halfway. The Scottish accents are dreadful in the book, they may as well just be in Yorkshire! I was interested to see if this movie was going to be any better but as usual, the male protagonist is a man in a boy's body. I am so sick of the chiselled jawline and sculpted bodies of Hollywood. I was hoping for a little realism. So that's a no for the book AND the film then. By an Irish girl in England, married to a Scot.
Annie A (1 year ago)
He's not gay ... but if he were as long as he did the acting right what's the problem?
imiss toronto (3 years ago)
+Kairra O'Mahony I tried reading the first one back in the 90's and didn't get far; it had all the stuff I loved - historical fiction, romance, a bit of sci-fi but I would fall asleep trying to read it and after awhile I just gave up. I don't mind the series, but it irks me that they would cast a gay actor to play a male character that women have had the hots for decades. I find it hard to get past that. as it loses all veracity for me.
imiss toronto (3 years ago)
+Shamsi Modarai he's also gay, which I find hard to forget when I see him 'acting' with Claire. I just don't believe it.
Shamsi Modarai (4 years ago)
While I actually really enjoy the book, I do agree with you about the casting here.... I think the actor is of course very handsome, but he's much more 'pretty' than I would have imagined the character. I already find it very distracting.
Tara P (4 years ago)
Try listening to the audio with Davina Porter. Her voice is magic, and entrances you. Also, I had a hard time getting into the series in the beginning, until I read "The Outlandish Companion" It gave summaries of the books, and a bunch of insight on Diana's writing style and purpose, and just a good glimpse at her as a person that put into light a LOT of what she poured into the books. Now I'm diving into book eight!

Fifty Shades of Plaid.......I can't wait to see just how far they'll dare go when filming the scene where Jamie beats Claire with a leather strap. Surely they won't ignore it completely? It made up a whole chapter in the book. Chapter twenty-three. Or something.....*blush*

Please stop making comparisons with 50 shades of Crap!!!!!!!!  Diana is an infinitely better author, period.  That Twilight knock-offs writer couldn't conceive a story as magnificent as Outlander. That said, I'm more interested to see how they're going to handle the other end of the first Outlander novel.  Jamie in prison, wolves, etc...will Starz let them portray it as written?
Tara P (4 years ago)
LOL you all make so much out of the beating! It stemmed from nothing sexual in the least; Claire acted without thinking and without knowing, and potentially put everyone in her party in serious danger. She's dealing with a man who was raised with corporal punishment, so how else is he SUPPOSED to react? And personally, I think the end result was a lot more hilarious than just some sexual scene. It was a cathartic release for everyone. Changing her from an outsider to one of them, and hence no longer (for the most part) a danger.
Kb5487 (4 years ago)
Ignorance is bliss, however that kind of stuff did occur. You can't pretend things like that didn't happen which is what makes her book fantastic she doesn't sugar coat real life events. If you can't handle it don't watch, it is that simple.
Tallulah Robinson (4 years ago)
I bloody hope they do. I want that horrific rape scene shoved in these idiotic people's faces then see how they like it justified and sexplained away after.

I will be getting Starz on the 10th I'm so excited snd can't wait for Outlander

*Spoilers* Omg that scene with Frank in the rain is so the scene with ghost Jamie!
Laochri (4 years ago)
+Belinda Watson Good Point!  August 9th can't get here soon enough.
Belinda Watson (4 years ago)
+Laochri But the trailer suggests we see other parts of the story told to Claire by Jamie, such as the redcoats arriving at his house and his whipping by BJR, so it stands to reason that we will also see things told to her by Frank?
Laochri (4 years ago)
I don't think we will see that scene, but I'm hoping I'm wrong.  Remember they are following the book to the letter (or as much as possible),  Outlander is written in the First Person (trough Clare), and she did't experience Jamie's Ghost.
