you didn't mention the issue on cards sliding off and how to correct that while learning
Neostar 88 (4 months ago)
This is great. it's actually really easy
Exedy (5 months ago)
so whenever you hold the cards they have to be as far from your palm as possible being pushed on 3 fingers, just whenever your point finger pushes the cards upwards, let go of thumb and let rest of the 3 fingers glide it down there for you, and it's important that you should keep the thumb cards correctly, they don't have to be leaned left, not right, just straight, and whenever you do let go of your thumb, don't let go of the rest 3 fingers try to keep them pushing against the bottom of the cards (which i found the reason i dropped cards mostly), and just as you do that switch your thumb on the pointy finger's cards (i think i forgot to mention, whenever you split them in half you want the 2 halves to be far from each other)
Zachary Neal (5 months ago)
i started with two cards and added more gradually. I learned that you need to apply pressure during the cut and have more cards held by the thumb than the cards that drop into your palm. thnx

i tried it with 2 cards but couldnt pull the bottom card with the index finger. when i tried it with full deck the gravity took over and i could do it comfortably. weird actually
KRΛKΞN (1 year ago)
Im 10, i can't do it
Dominik Chojnacki (1 year ago)
Just wondering if i could get some advice, i don't think i'm holding the cards right and i'm not really sure how i can change that. I have pretty average hands it's just that my pinkie gets stuck on holding the lower half and not the upper half and i end up dropping the top deck and even when i manage to hold the deck with also my pinkie, it somehow slides past it and i end up dropping the deck regardless, what am i doing wrong?
MayoJesus (1 year ago)
i cant do it i think because after i lift up the first card with my thumb. the other one with my index cant reach the top because my thumb is to short and cant hold on till it switches cards. Is there anyone with the same problem?
Depresity (1 year ago)
i just did the cut with the 2 cards like 3 times then i tried it with the whole deck and came out Awesome

I HAVE SOME OF DA SMALLEST HANDS!!!! But after sitting on my bed and raging for 2 hrs I finally got it fluently!!! SO SMALL HANDS ARE NOT AN EXCUSE!!! WHY AM I USING ALL CAPS!!!????
Bigbie The Dog (1 year ago)
You are very clear and better than others at explaining everyone else is an asswipe at teaching this
Axenal (1 year ago)
this is pretty hard for me, as my hands are still developing, but if you let the top deck fall to the left (if your righty, vice versa if your lefty) and bring bottom to the left, try finessing the decks to cut.

Excellent tutorial
Berko Snacere (1 year ago)
Small hands, using a bridge deck. I find that the only way I can do it, at least when starting out, is to let the botton packet drop into the space formed at the intersection of your palm lines. That's where I can clear the bottom packet over the top.
Mr Awesome (1 year ago)
Why is my half a packet thicker than your whole packet?
Graff52 (1 year ago)
Awesome, that Evan. learning a lot from you. although hopefully alot of ppl I do these things to don't YouTube tricks and such...

Ur a great teacher I tried watching Cris Ramsay and 52yards but yours has been on the clearst so far and it will help my dream of becoming a street magician. Thanks
onstr (1 year ago)
I don't lift my thumb, instead I lower my middle and ring finger to let it the packet fall. To me this was easier.

Advice for people with small hands like me. Use your thumb to cut the deck then proceed like normal. Pushing off with your thumb should let you get just that tiny bit more space for the cards to maneuver.
fumiki ozawa (2 years ago)
got it on my second try. was just trying out some sybil cuts and flourish tutorials before actually doing this one lol. (Small hands btw.)

djt6fan (2 years ago)
I started to practice this cut at the same time, first hand, second hand, first etc. my first hand mastered it, my right hand can barely do it without a 52 card pickup. What gives? I try comparing what the hands to differently, but it's like one side of my brain is retarded, copies what the other does exactly, yet still fails. btw I'm right handed, so should be easier for that hand, right? Help
The Mysterious Tin Can (2 years ago)
lol. "Small-handed people"
Leopard 101 (2 years ago)
I figured out if you have small hands, which I do, it works if you let your thumb go underneath the first half of the cut and let the cards balance on your middle, ring, and pinkie finger then push the bottom half up with your index finger. Without your thumb it gives you more space. Hope it helps a bit!

dbzdp did you ever figure it out? I have ridiculously small hand and I got it down within a few hours.
Æsh (2 years ago)
As for complaints of small hands, I have small hands and can do it just fine. At first it looked impossible, but I found it easier to do with less cards, so I made a practice game where I started with 2 cards, and every time I completed a cut smoothly I moved up a card, and everytime I didn't I moved down a card. Slowly I made the challenge harder after completing a whole deck, and now I can do it like a pro

I have a problem. When i push the bottom packet it takes the bottom card of the top apcket and slides it halfway up anyone could help me?
Kaneki Amano (2 years ago)
I've gotten to the point where I've just learnt to balance the cards without having to slide them up to my thumb so that I just lift with my index finger and that's it... -_-

Thanks God I have large hands :) Nice tutorial
sandypickle (2 years ago)
I have small hands so it's already hard, but what I realized that made it even worse was my pinky placement. I never realized that it was in the wrong position. It's supposed to be at the bottom of the deck, but I had it net to my middle and ring. Still needs practice, but it's already smoother.
Jackson Vanderkooy (2 years ago)
For me the hardest part is not letting go of the thumb
JesterPlay (2 years ago)

Nex Sicarius (2 years ago)
Hey, thanks for this video; I was trying to learn a different flourish and the guy just casually went, "And so, do half of a Charlier cut." I couldn't for the life of me figure out what he meant from just watching that guy, so I found this video, and I actually managed it in about 15 minutes! You're right, you really don't need the index finger to peel off half the cards to begin with after a little while.
Nex Sicarius (2 years ago)
+Chops Chops Yeah, that's the one, haha. I still haven't managed to perfect the one in that video, though.
Luka Kavteli (2 years ago)

Screw this!!! My hands are so small, that I can't push the card upward!!! Jarek is saying that the hardest part is letting the thumb go, but damn, I can't even lift the card upward!! Help me before I lose my mind
Beethoven__ (2 years ago)
+Johann Olmedo I'm figuring out a little bit of a different one-handed cut that I found while i tried to do this cut i have small hands too so i have your problem what you gotta do is swivel it, i might make a vine about it and post it here

Steve Wallaboo (3 years ago)
+II Matty Ice II well then how good is your slight of hand. Im assuming better then his right???
II Matty Ice II (3 years ago)
People find him "entertaining" , but his technique as far sleight of hand is at the level of a drunk 8 year old.
Oscar Madueno (3 years ago)
I have been trying this cut for a year and it doesn't work I think it's because I have small hands
Labinot Idrizi (3 years ago)
in which tricks is this cut useful? :) im pretty new to this xD
Labinot Idrizi (3 years ago)
Thanks for you answer ;D i guess this is the only cut that I cant use to maybe control a card to the top or so with an "anglejog.break" :p
Aaron Ray LeVine (3 years ago)
Hello. this is not useful in any tricks as a sleight, but it's just one those things where the spectator will naturally be impressed by your ability to handle the cards. :)
Drew Robbins (3 years ago)
My issue. It's my thumb letting go.. It's when I let it go, the first half flies forward
Krokonwampir (3 years ago)
It's easy to catch a break after cutting the cards if you are fast enough. So you can show your first pass as a cut move say something like "I can do them one handed too" catch a break while doing this cut and do another pass maybe mix in some fancier false cuts and false shuffles too. It's the way I control my cards to the top. Then you can do a double lift show the spectator that their card isn't there even though it's.It can help you spice up your "Ambitious Card" trick
Panda (3 years ago)
I hate how every magic trick requires big hands. I hate it

+Sky JT Yes I practised 2-3 hours every day until I could do the basic movement but very slow and sloppy. Then I went to watch TV and I kept doing it. Now I do it pretty fast and without flaws. Took me around one week
WatchLearnSee (3 years ago)
+Charlie Stowe I can do it now. It takes some practice but eventually you'll get it. Keep at it hommie
Charlie Stowe (3 years ago)

randomperson154 154 (3 years ago)

Nik Preston Kujavec (3 years ago)
Please do a scissors cut tutorial... please!!!!
Holly Lane (3 years ago)
When you split the deck, make sure that the packet that comes down is closer to your first finger then your thumb; the fold in your hand that is naturally the deepest. That way when you push it forward towards your thumb, it will easily slide under the cards, even for small hands.
rigor m (4 years ago)
I have a problem, maybe you help me. I practiced and now it works when i do it slowly. But because i have to release my thumb when i pushed the left packet *just* to the quarter (because i have no more room) the left packet peels off the bottom card Help plz
Kushagra Tiwari (2 years ago)
Blu's Pie Try separating the deck into two packets with your thumb. it worked for me.
