Sex, Gender, and Pain: A Review of Recent Clinical and Experimental Findings
"Consistent with our previous reviews, current human findings regarding sex differences in experimental pain indicate greater pain sensitivity among females compared with males for most pain modalities, including more recently implemented clinically relevant pain models such as temporal summation of pain and intramuscular injection of algesic substances."
Gender, Coping and the Perception of Pain
"A consistent pattern of effects was found, over both behavioral and self-report measures of pain. Compared to females, males exhibited less negative pain responses when focusing on the sensory component of pain (i.e. increased threshold, tolerance and lower sensory pain)."
Culture and Gender Effects in Pain Beliefs and the Prediction of Pain Tolerance
"Consistent with their beliefs, Indian participants had higher pain tolerance than those in the United States, and males had higher pain tolerance than females."
The effects of experimenter characteristics on pain reports in women and men
"Results indicated a significant main effect for professional status of the experimenter on pain tolerance. Subjects tolerated pain longer when they were tested by a professional experimenter."

It doesn't matter what kind of things both women AND men go through. The body simply doesn't work that way. Some females don't even give birth and don't know the pain. So when giving birth to their first baby, the body isn't aware of what amount of pain it's about to go through. _But_ say if someone (the female) has giving birth multiple times, only then their body will grow some sort of toleration to the pain.
Let me just say it here. Women are stronger then men whether you like it or not. We are the ones who give birth, go through periods every month, puking because of pregnancy. And we can handle it. Sorry, men.
lmao i dont get why guys have to suddenly say women are pathetic once hearing that they have a higher pain tolerance, like...whoo big accomplishment? gfu? ur body doesnt tell ur brain that ur in trouble as much as women bodies do?
also it makes guys think that suddenly their pain tolerance is 10x higher than women. they said higher, not "men have no pain and women cry about everything"
thats just from what ive been seeing in the comments btw, not every guy i guess..
Painful experiences increase a person's tolerance. Men tend to get injured more due to doing more dangerous activities, so they are often exposed to more pain earlier. My pain tolerance before kids was really low. Now? It's MUCH higher. I still don't ever want to pass a kidney stone.
we can tolerate more environmental pain because our body are designed to tolerate more our skin is thicker we also have hair on our skin which an extra shield and many other factors. I don't think we can tolerate giving birth because women have hormones that helps them with it that we simply don't have at least not with the required amount. The point is comparing pain doesn't really mean a lot we have always knew that man can just take more physical loads than women it's actually surprising that this not obvious I mean look for size and muscles mass difference between men and women bodies. what is really interesting is the psychological side of it
I just found out about this misconception. Do people really think women tolerate less pain? From my personal experience, the girls of these days are gigantic crybabies. I try avoiding them. The women I actually like are the older ones because they seem so much chill.
OKAY FOR ALL YOU PEOPLE FIGHTING! Men are women are perfect, without men we wouldn't have buildings and a family, and without women we wont have kids or people taking care of us.
We are both perfect the way we are, just because boys are tougher doesn't mean you should get all shit up about it.
Some men (most of them) are really but REALLY racist and i just wish i can give them the slap of respect and be sorry for the resg of their lives
Also,if they think they are stronger, can they bleed seven days and survive? No,so shut up!
We really even each other out. Men and women each have things they do better than the other sex. So no men aren't better then women. And women aren't better then men. Also personally believe it really depends on the person. I mean sometimes a woman might be just as good or better then something a man is usually better at. And sometimes a man might be just as good or better than something a woman is usually better at. Like I have been able to out run some guys or be just as fast. Or like I've seen where some guys are able to do multitasking just as good as most women.
(note I am a female)
let's see broke the same toenail twice, fractured then broke the same arm, gotten hit on the face and back of head multiple times (like a 100 times), fell on my face, injured my other arm last school semester, a few bruises from carrying the school instrument and from other shit, and scratches from my cat
and only once I cried
I know I am late but here is what I think, I may be wrong btw.
I think that girls feel pain quicker but get over it quicker, like say I sprained something, I would feel hurt for about 3 minutes but would then move on.
If you didn’t know this which most people don’t all babies start out as a mostly female fetus then change into a male inside the womb that is why men have nipples I am not making this up it is a real fact, in saying this I give you evidence that men are more evolved than women
Some of this not true. There are some psychological indifferences too, like how men generally feel the need to be more “manly.” While IN GENRAL women are not constantly told to “man up.” Women biologically feel less pain because estrogen can muffle pain.
For young women not taking exogenous hormones does the time of the month make a difference? What about cross sex horomones? What about food or water. It’s interesting that opioids constrict the pupils. They will result in pinpoint pupils in total darkness if the dosage is high enough. This is the opposite of what pain reportedly does.
Something that women probably don’t realize is that a blow to the testicles causes delayed refered pain. The pain is felt in the upper abdomen and it takes about 30 seconds to a minute to build up to a peak.
I remember watching a video with Teens being maced in the face, just to see what it felt like, and the girls were the first to scream and cry around, while the guys obviously not enjoying it nonetheless kept their shit together.
Actually can’t deal with all these people thinking being a feminist is a bad thing, feminism is about equality between genders, and to make fun of it and say you’re not a feminist, is quite honestly equivalent to saying you’re racist because by not being a feminist makes you sexist, cause you therefore don’t believe in equality 😂😂
El Kl feminism is a joke well now it is, all those man hating crazy women give it a bad name that's why most women don't call themselves a feminist but believe in equal rights, but honestly why would u want equal rights as men, as a man it can suck. We're expected to be brave, tough, not allowed to show emotional side without being called a puss, have to support families, harder to get a girl, boners in public, not allowed to hut girls even if they're hitting u 1st, have to attend consent classes, have harder jobs, war, last to be rescued in hostage situation etc etc, women be happy ur a woman bc being a man can suck lol also single mothers get praised but single fathers get looked down upon what's up with that lmao
If someone asked me to focus on the emotions caused by the pain I think I'd be so puzzled by the request that it might help dull the pain. The only emotion would be feeling older, and that ain't an emotion.
Bruh. It doesn't matter that man are stronger than women. You guys need women and we women need guys. You guys should thank your mothers right now because you are alive and your mom had to stand the pain you gave them. Don't you think your mom was strong enough to give birth to you? Man could be strong and everything but you guys don't deal with pain out of nowhere. Women deal with pain almost everyday, when they have cramps (when period) and when they give birth. Men are strong but that doesn't mean you are the leader of everything.Sometimes you, men, hurt women with those muscles, that's why women are abused everyday, every hour in this world... Anyways, thank your mom and if you have a sister wish them luck. It does NOT matter who's stronger.
Thank you discovery! Truth is good to hear. I think women just put up with the pain more to prove they are equal to men, much women aspire to be men or similar to them, however the opposite is true as well. Since pain is a factor necessary in our selves to let us know we are in danger obviously " A cut or a slice on the hand will send a signal to our brains right" if any of you believe in evolution then the women would be the prime suspect to receive pain first since she may be carrying two people and need to be warned to escape or take care of the problem, I however wont deny that perhaps women can deal with more pain and live longer its to be tested yet I don't want to allow two patients to act as sacrificial lambs in order to test this lmao.
I think women are conditioned to admit to being in pain more quickly than men. Men want to be "manly" so it's not so much that one is more or less tolerant, but that some people feel more comfortable quitting for their own happiness rather than toughing it out to be cool.
I am a 24-year old dude, and I think that my threshold of pain is kinda lower than other men that I know. I dunno why. It's interesting to mention, however, that my personality has many traits that could be considered femenine ,I would say; and that inlfuences my social behavior, which in turn could influence my perception of pain .___.
Uhhhh they always say “but we give birth” i push a girl and she cries I slam my brothers head on the floor he gets up and starts messing again the reason you give birth isn’t because you have a higher threshold for pain it’s because you have to, ITS BIOLOGICAL FFS
Try watching the whole video. They tell you the study proves only that every study gets different results, and the only thing they’ve proven is men and women feel pain differently, partially due to women’s higher empathic responses.
Red yes because after birth you have a fucking kid?! You don't get a reward from being kicked in the nuts but that doesn't mean it's more painful.. Have you ever witnessed a birth? When a dude gets kicked in the balls it must hurt really bad so they lay on the ground holding their balls maybe even cry but then comes labor... it can last up to 30 hours, the women scream cry, vomit and pass out because all the abdomen musceles try to squeeze a human and of a tiny hole.. Sometimes during birth the doctor literally cuts the woman so the baby fits better through hole.. imagine someone cutting open your balls. I'm just saying... I can imagine that guys can handle pain better than women but don't believe for a fucking second that a kick in the nuts, no matter how bad it must hurt, is worse than labor... i think it's more compareable to period cramps... go ask your mom
Why can't people just understand that pain tolerance is individual and has nothing to do with gender? I could agree with that pain threshold thing but that is something totally different than tolerance.
