The United States did not gain independence in 1776. That was the year that the Declaration of independence was signed.
Cornwallis surrendered in 1781.
The Treaty of Paris was signed in 1783.
Jeez, pal, do some homework, will you please.
July 4th, 1776 was when America officially declared itself an independent nation, though the move had been official since the 2nd. That's why we celebrate it as our country's birthdate. Article 1 of the Treaty of Paris was mainly Great Britain's acknowledgment of US independence, as other countries, such as France, had already recognised her as being independent and had assisted her during the war. The end of the war was not the beginning of our country, but the beginning of peace between nations. But do your own homework, Dan, and you'll learn even more about it. It's a very fun, very complex subject. Perhaps "gain" isn't the best word choice, but do you really want to cause a fuss over semantics?
Whoa. In I Saw The Devil, (an excellent Korean thriller film) theres a part of the movie that tells of a korean family that are serial killers. They would also eat their victims to get rid of the evidence. I didn't know there was actual truth in that.
Sawney Beane was not an urban legend - it happened. Any denials are "Burning times debunkers" - intellectual snits who at 6th grade bullied 1st graders 'proving' there was no Santa Claus to bully someone for being bullied themselves. They don't got the ballz to debunk stuff like during world war 2 so they say "Not as many witches were burned" knowing there would be a police response/investigation in case of threats or violence.
I love toptenz videos, they always produce in depth and well sourced material.
I have even gone as far as conducting background research on a lot of their list entries and found they do hold validity. It is refreshing to see a channel that uses facts instead of opinions to formulate lists; such credible sources of media almost seem to get lost in the digital age where misinformation abounds.
Although I cannot attest for all the content, this channel is doing it's part to educate the public.
Tbh, the quality and fact checking varies a bit.
If I was to guess, it's probably due to the desire to keep constantly pushing out content, and getting more clicks (because that's what Google wants you to do, if you want to make money here).
Some of it is simply opinionated/sensationalist filler garbage, while others are quite well done.
And I thought it was bad growing up best friends with a guy who turned out to become a pedophile. I hope he gets some kind of mental illness diagnosed during discovery so he will be put away for a long long time.
Manson had a beef with the Beach Boy/Doris Day's son that had lived in the house that was owned by Roman Polanski and his pregnant wife Sharon Tate. That is why he told Tex&and the Family girls to kill everyone in the house!
+Robert Hardee lol, didn't Google it, I did an essay on the Manson family in high school. Waaaayyy back in the day when we had to go to a library and look things up in books and newspapers...you know, before the internet 😉
Actually, he had a beef with Beach Boy Dennis Wilson. Terry Melcher was Doris Day's son. Roman Polanski and Sharon Tate didn't own the house but rented it, I believe from a man named Rudy Autobelli (or something like that). When Charles Manson met Mr. Melcher, he did live in that house, but prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi found out later that Manson had been back to the house after Polanski/Tate had moved in. He knew that Melcher didn't live there anymore.
If you used two sisters on this list (The Papin Sisters), why not include two brothers, such as Reggie and Ronnie Kray? They were awful! Or did you not include them because they are on frequent crime lists, and the people on this list were somewhat unknown with the exception of a few? Just curious... Great video, by the way!
I totally know how sometimes hard foreign names are to pronounce. With them you have at least to check if there is a phonetic transcription somewhere, have a go at it, and try to put stress correctly. In my book you have at least to try to do it right, not just guess.
You might not manage foreign words, Simon, but pictures are hung and people are hanged, unless you mean that the offenders were hung on a wall like a picture. An interesting mental image, not not, perhaps, what you meant.
You missed an important word in #10. The neutral zone may be 5,000 *square* miles (~50 miles across and ~100 miles long,) but the entire US isn't 5,000 miles across, let alone that relatively small zone on the western border of Louisiana. It's "only" a 3,300 mile drive from Seattle, Washington to Miami, Florida, pretty much as far apart as two cities in the contiguous US can be.
You got one thing wrong about the Manson family many of the women an some of the men still followed him quite closely for years after he was incarcerated there was even a plot by the Manson family in 1975 too assassinate US president Gerald Ford chiefly by Lynette Fromme and Sandra Goode. Those too where truly in love with Manson they never denounced him and always professed there allegiance Froome even escaped from prison in 1987 too try see Manson as he had cancer at the time nearly 20 years after the murders doesn’t seem like someone who didnt like the fella
Bro everything is awesome but please don't speak too fast. We mis lot of your content as we have to rewind the videos again and again. Our mother language is not english and you will get more like and shares if everyone understand you easily
